A series of 16 limited edition linocuts drawn from painted pots and sculptures in the Antiquities collections at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Initially created for my letterpress book, Animals from Antiquity, and printed here as a group.
Dr John E. Stanton, Adjunct Professor, School of Social Sciences, The University of Western Australia has written a commentary to accompany this work which can perhaps be summed up here (his full response can be read in the book):
‘Debbie’s linocuts of works held by the Ashmolean Museum, one of the great museums of the world, suggest to me a significant element of renewal.
They are a re-appraisal. A re-appreciation. A re-vitalisation.
She gives these works a new life. A re-newed significance. And a new audience.’
